and the year as 1828Sydnor Robinson was born in Virginia, Forguor County, August 11, 1829. Parents moved to Athens County, Ohio. He was a pupil at the academy in Pomroy. He had charge of classes during his term there and afterwards taught school for several years commencing at the age of 18 to teach. He married Sarah G. Pletcher, April 27, 1854 at the James Mening parsonage in Deavertown, Morgan County, Ohio. Sydnor Robinson and his wife moved west in the same summer coming to Agency City, Wappello county, Iowa, where he taught school. On the second of April the first child was born, Wilber Flemings Robinson. His wife became homesick the following winter, and they went down the Des Moines River at Keokuk [where] they took a boat for Cairo on the Mississippi. From there they went up the Ohio River to Cincinnati. From there they took the cars to Roesville, five miles from Deaverton, the old home. They remained in Ohio until 1865. In [On] May 25, 1865 they again went west (were in Ohio all during the war). They went overland in a covered wagon. They started May 25 and unloaded July 5, in the Southwest Corner of Madison County, Iowa. Sarah G. Robinson died November 23, 1879 at the home farm on Grand River, Madison County, [and] was buried at the Moon Graveyard, south of Macksburg, Iowa. COMMENT: by Barbara Parsons Leach. Remarries: Sydnor Robinson, in 1881, married Mary Elizabeth Carr. By this time, Mary, 20, and Lew, 18, were probably ready to be on their own, byt Alonzo 14, James 12, Charlotte 11, Chester 8, Charles 5, and Harriet 3 yrs., were apt to have needed her care. About a year later, in 1882, a baby arrives, Henry Tiny Robinson, the 14th child.

COMMENT: by Barbara Parsons Leach. Death: Sydnor Robinson d. Dec. 1885, about 4 years after he and Mary Carr marry. The court records indicate she chooses to be responsible only for Henry. The others must have been cared for by the older brothers and sisters, some of them married.
COMMENT: by Barbara Parsons Leach. Moved: Summer, 1865, to Macksburg, Madison Co. IA. Children: The first born in Iowa, Wappello Co., 1855; Second-Sixth born in Deavertown, Ohio, 1856-1865. Seventh (John Solomon Robinson) born en route or immediately after arriving back in Iowa, Madison County, July, 1865. He d. 1878, horse accident. Eighth-Thirteenth born after returning to Iowa, 1865-1878.
