Notes for Joseph McKee

"He was a farmer. Joseph converted his house into an ordinary (tavern) during the 1830s when the Northwest Turnpike opened for travel. After his wife Elizabeth died, Joseph lived with his children who remained on Timber Ridge. Joseph and Elizabeth were buried at Bethel Methodist Church, Trone, Frederick County, in graves without inscriptions of viatal dates. According to verbal tradition, they had nine daughters and four sons. After analyzing the U.S. censuses, it appears there were nine children - four boys and five girls."
